Day By Day - Isaiah 12
By Anne Horsburgh
Personal Thoughts:
This is a great reminder of what we have NOW! Unlike Judah - who were waiting for this promise; this glory to come. God may chastise His children but He never forsakes them.
God is my Salvation
This phrase or theme can be considered a great summary of Isaiah.
Thank you, Lord! Salvation is such a precious gift – it can’t be earned, bought by us, inherited or stolen! Yet it is ours, paid by love.
David Guzik of The Enduring Word (online Bible commentary), expresses this so well. “To say God is my Salvation is also to say – I am not my salvation. My good works and good thoughts do not save me”.
Acts 4:12 'Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.'
John 10:9 'I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.'
Psalm 2:7 'The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?'
Give thanks to the Lord -- Sing to the Lord -- Shout aloud and sing for Joy
'But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.' Exodus 14:29.
Moses and the Israelites sang their song to the Lord and here are some of the words, similar to Isaiah. Exodus 15:2 “The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.”
And further with great words in Exodus 15:11 - "Who among the gods is like you O Lord? Who is like You – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?”
This is our God, the God of our salvation. He is worthy of our praise – always forever.
Pastor Jacob shared with us on August 27th 2020 (listen again!) how Jesus is the Christ. Jesus is our King; greater than all the prophets, priests and kings that have ever existed. We need no other. Jesus is Prophet, Priest and King - all in one – Christ the anointed one!!!
How can we not praise Him? How can we not give thanks? How can we not shout or sing for joy?
Jesus said in Luke 19:40 after some the Pharisees called to Jesus to rebuke the disciples who were praising God - “I tell you, he replied, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out”.
So do not keep quiet... My Bible has entitled this “Songs of Praise”. If you don’t know how to praise; these words are just the key for you!!
Final Thoughts:
Revelations 4:8b & 11
“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power; for You created all things, and By Your will they exist and were created.”
Our church is very blessed with musical talent. I am sure you can ask for assistance. There are so many songs you can use to worship our wonderful King. Give it a go!
Here’s a golden oldie for those who can still remember....
